"The intention of the project was to create a street of important civic status in Kuwait Town Centre similar in function and character to that of the Avenue des Champs Elys'ees in Paris. (…) the four firms were asked to form a Consortium and to prepare two alternatives commenced in April 1990. Presentation of alternatives was due to take place on 7 August 1990 but was interrupted by the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Coloured presentation drawings were completed at the time of the invasion but these were destroyed."- Sharq Al Seif Area: Planning and Schematic Design for Kuwait Minicipality, 1985-90. This tour is a tentative recollection of those coloured presentation drawings lost in August 1990. The idea of a “street of important civic status” connecting Mubarakiya (the city centre) to Sharq (the business centre) was lost back then. The site remains empty and the connection difficult between these two cities.

An architect, research associate, lecturer and curator.  Ricardo has recently completed work on the reconversion of Kuwait City’s Green Belt with AlShaheed Park for the Amiri Diwan . He has also written a book on the Modern Architecture of Kuwait in collaboration with Dar al Athar al Islamiya.
